Christmas
This year was a different Christmas experience for us because Bryson was old enough to actually "comprehend" what was happening, we had SO MUCH fun with him! We did Elf on the Shelf and Bryson loved looking for Buddy every morning. He got so excited that Buddy came back from the North Pole and every time we left the house he would say goodbye to Wylie & Buddy telling them both to "be good"!
We also went to visit Santa. I was not sure how this was going to go because at Easter I had to sit on the Bunny's lap with Bryson because he was scared (I was pregnant so I'm sure the Bunny didn't enjoy it). But Bryson walked right up to Santa and sat on his lap and told him he wanted Action Chugger from Chuggington for Christmas. Then we plopped Rylan down too and got a nice picture, I really was in total shock.
We also started some Klocke Family Christmas Eve/Morning traditions this year. These included going to Caribou Coffee (duh), baking Baby Jesus a Birthday cake, sprinkling reindeer food on the snow, and putting out cookies & milk for Santa. The best thing about having kids this age at Christmas time is that they won't wake up at 6:00am to open presents. I think we all woke up around 8:30am......it was AWESOME (the boys' gift to Dan & I). Then we opened presents, Dan made a great breakfast, then we packed up for Mason City to celebrate with Dan's family (Eve was at G&G Freddie's). It was busy, but overall a really beautiful time for our family that I already look forward to next year and isn't that what is it all about???
New Years & Birthday
We went to our friends the Caruth's house to ring in the new year with some other couples and their kids. It was a totally crazy time that included with a shirtless dance party........the kids of course! Our New Years celebrations have dramatically changed over the years which probably is a good thing because after some drinks I'm usually thinking bedtime not party-time (yep I know how old that made me sound)!
My Birthday is in the end of January, which I spent in Milwaukee for work. But Dan sent me pictures throughout the day of the boys holding up Birthday signs (Wylie even had a picture too). My day ended with a video of Bryson and Dan singing Happy Birthday, it was absolutely adorable. My work also had a huge cake for me at lunch which I was not expecting, so I really couldn't have asked for a better Birthday away from home.
February
This Minnesota winter has been amazingly warm and I felt like we spent a lot of time outside this month, not a typical February. Lots of walks and playing in the driveway because we really had hardly any snow (I can't even believe I'm typing that). My parents watched the boys for a night so Dan and I could attend a O.A.R. concert. We had a blast together and felt "young" again until after the concert we overheard a group of kids talking about going to the bars. I looked at Dan and said "You couldn't pay me to go out right now". I was too excited thinking about the night of uninterrupted sleep that was ahead of me! Yeah, we are parents :)
The Boys
I want to close with updates on the boys. Rylan had his 6 month check up and is in the 20% for weight and 2% for height (I didn't even think a percentile existed below 5%). So he is a peanut which is crazy because I think he looks big! He is now sitting on his own and eating baby food (I will include pictures of his first rice cereal, hilarious). He has a huge smile and giggles all the time, mostly at Bryson.
I just looked at Bryson in his bed tonight and he looks like a little boy. I seriously teared up, my baby is gone......it truly goes by so fast. He LOVES helping us cook meals (let me rephrase that, he loves to help Dan cook meals). He also gets dressed by himself and puts on his own coat & hat, like I said he is a "big boy". He continues to amaze us everyday with the things he says, he also makes us laugh everyday :)
I find so much joy in watching the boys interact. All they need to do is look at each other and they are both smiling. Everywhere we go Bryson always asks if Ryaln can come. They are just in love with each other, I know this may not always be the case so I'm cherishing every moment I get. By my next blog if Rylan has started to crawl and take Bryson cars, I may have another story to tell........we'll just have to wait and see!
Enjoy the pictures and I hope all is well. God Bless,
Jana
Santa brought Bryson hockey skates (more of a gift for Dan)
